Me and English

“The more languages you speak, the more times you are human.”

I was searching for my way to English until I was about fifteen. Then one day everything simply clicked. Today, as a holder of a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certificate, I try to show my students that languages can be learned anytime, anywhere – and most importantly, in a fun and enjoyable way.

I actively speak English, German, and of course Czech. When I warm up a little, I can also hold a basic conversation in Spanish. For the past two years, I’ve also been in the role of a perpetual beginner in Swedish. Because of that, I know exactly what it feels like to be at the beginning. I know what it’s like to feel stuck. And I know what it’s like to start from zero.

Taking a course in pedagogical basics helped me better understand the psychological side of learning, which I enjoy incorporating into my lessons. That’s why in my classes I’m not only a language teacher, but often also a supporter and guide along the way.

I spent two years studying German and Spanish at university, but my heart has always been closest to English. Languages are a joy for me. Sometimes, however, you have to take steps that may seem unnecessary at the moment. But trust me – sooner or later, everything falls into place.

These lessons move at a calm pace and start clearly from the very basics. We begin with reading the English alphabet and practicing sounds that don’t exist in Czech, so you can first “tune your ears” to the language. For better understanding, we’ll also briefly look at a bit of the history of English and some of its unique features. Step by step, you’ll learn basic phrases for introducing yourself, simple conversation, and everyday situations that you can start using in practice right away.

Have you started learning several times but still feel like you can’t move forward? Together we’ll focus on building your vocabulary, strengthening the foundations of grammar, and most importantly practicing through repetition and speaking. I use Czech only minimally, so after just a few lessons you’ll be further than you expect. Are you in?

3

Do you mix up the present simple and present continuous? And what about the present perfect? This takes patience and time. That’s why we’ll repeat as much as needed. Repetition is the mother of learning, but we often learn the most from our mistakes. Together we’ll uncover what’s hidden under the dust of your knowledge and build on it so you can move forward again.

Do you already have a basic understanding of English tenses but need to explore different topics and expand your vocabulary? Then these lessons are perfect for you! There will be quite a bit of reading and listening in your free time. During our lessons, we’ll activate the vocabulary so it doesn’t stay only in your passive language.

Are you ready to get started?
